The Ecological Park Hun Nal Ye, is located in
the extreme northwest of San Pedro Carcha Municipality in the
departament of Alta Verapaz, at 300 meters of the level of the
sea with a hot tropical rainy climate. It's a private natural
reserve with an area of 135 hectares that possesses more than 170
species of trees, 200 species of birds, 25 species of mammals,
20 species of amphibians, 23 of reptiles and an impressive
quantity of insects including some very rare species.
The park have impressive natural attractions and a diversity of
activities of adventure and observation of the nature. One of
the most important activities in the Park is the birds watching.
The Park HunNal Ye is to 271 kilometres from the City of
Guatemala, 53 kilometers from Cobán city and to 42 kilometres
from Chisec, which 11.5 km. are of dirt track.

How to get there from Cobán.
To come to the Park Hun Nal Ye, going out of Cobán city, you
must direct for the Street Minerva at the level of the Mall
Plaza Magdalena, you will have to look for the north course,
which is the exit to Chisec and to Petén the Road RD-09.
The road RD-09 is paving but sinuous, with closed and hanging
moderately pronounced curves, with a speed of not major design
of 50 kilometres per hour; it develops in one of the prettiest
landscapes of the high lands of Alta Verapaz, passes for rural
communities formed by smallholders of land generally queqchíes,
and for coffee estates, ranchers and plantations of cardamomo.
They will be 47.5 kilometres of road paved in good condition,
passing for Sachichaj, Cubilguitz between other populations up
to the entry to the Community Samanzana that is located in the
kilometre 259.5 of the road RD-09 that leads from Cobán to
Chisec, of the right side of the road.

Of this point it begins the dirt track up to the entry of the
Park. Approximately to 6 kilometres will find the community
Samanzana where you will have to cross towards the right more or
less one kilometre, then it returns to the initial course
approximately 5 kilometres until San Vicente Chicatal and
approximately 500 meters come to the community more the entry to
the Park, which is suitably put up signs.
